Manufacturing Collectable Model Trains Since 1962

North Shore ElectroLiners are coming back in early 2011 for a short "Curtain Call" .

While we sold out over a year ago, the incredible reviews and comments from the magazines about this model have resulted in many inquiries as to whether or not we will re-run the models. The factory has agreed to do a small Re-Run on the ElectroLiner models in early 2011 if we can meet their Minimum Order Quantity.

So we need your help in gathering enough orders to meet the factory's Minimum. So if you are kicking yourself for not buying one when they were available before, don't hesitate in reserving one from this very limited run due early next year.

And PLEASE tell your friends that love traction models we are doing a Re-Run, so they know about it, and tell them to pass the word around over the Internet Chat rooms that talk about Traction Models.

Remember, Con-Cor does offer a "Lay-A-Way" Plan to split the payments over several months once they do arrive.. AND you can still qualify for a 20% Pre-Order discount if you place your order right away !

Advance Pre-Orders on any of the new items from Con-Cor, or one of our Marketing Partners can entitle you up to a 20% discount if the Pre-Order is placed before the "Pre-Order Closing Date" for that product. Regular "instock" items are not on sale, unless so marked and described as being on sale. The Pre-Order 20% offer applies only on direct to consumer sales, and may not be combined with other offers, or Trade Discounts given to Resellers of the Con-Cor product line.

Features to note on our new ElectroLiner....

  • Comes as Complete 4 Car Train Set
  • Full interior, including motorman. This is possible as we designed the ElectroLiner with a underfloor drive train.
  • Full lighting, and NMRA 8 pin DCC ready plug. (Decoder not supplied with model)
  • --For a Function Decoder you can use a DigiTrax DZ143PS or similar decoder by any other brand.
  • --For a Sound Decoder you can use a DigiTrax SFX004 Soundbug Decoder (we have provided a location for the Speaker to fit upright in the vestibule between the doors of the powered locomotive unit. Or any other brand sound decoder that will fit available space.
  • --However, be advised we do not know of a set of existing Sounds you can use for the ElectroLiner, one of the various Decoder companies may provide some sounds in the future, or you might find some on the Web once the model is released. But so far, we at Con-Cor have been unable to find any Sounds we feel suitable to recommend to you.
  • Lots of underbody detail, even with underfloor drive train.
  • All 4 cars have full interiors and lighting
  • Rubberized diaphrams between each car.
  • Sprung fully operating Trolley Poles (Comes from factory set up for standard 2-rail operation, but by removing locomotive body shell and shifting small slide switch the power pick up chages from 2-rail to overhead.)
  • Reversing headlights
  • We know the HO ElectroLiner will run on 10 inch radius at a slow speed. Depending on quality of your trackwork it will probably run on a tighter radius at slow speeds.
  • Authentic Paint Colors**

**(Turquoise and Salmon colors in photo above do not show up well on computer screens), we have used the paint formula for original colors courtsey of Jim Meindl, the ElectroLiner foreman at the Illinois Railway Museum, where a fully restored ElectroLiner resides. Con-Cor even was able to secure a sample of the Seat cloth from the Original ElectroLiner to match on the model.)

    Some History:

America's First "All Electric Luxury Trains" proclaimed the ads announcing the first run of the "ElectroLiners" on Feb 9th 1941.

The design of the "ElectroLiners" was influenced by the competition on the Chicago to Milwaukee Run of the C&NW's 400 trains, and the Milwaukee Road's Hiawatha trains. Also influencing the design was the fact that the "ElectroLiners" had to circum-navigage the "EL" tracks above the Chicago Loop and run down the middle of city streets as it entered Milwaukee.

Built by St. Louis Car company in their huge plant outside St. Louis, 2 compelete 4 car Trains were built for the "North Shore" the trains exceeded their design standard of being able to make the 120 mile run between Chicago and Milwaukee on a mile a minute schedule. (Including stops).

Con-Cor's founder, Jim Conway, often rode the ElectroLiners as a young boy and teenager, as most of his mother's family and a lot of his cousins lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin on the North Shore's main line. And his Grandma's house backed up to the North Shore's trackage. In fact the worst rail disaster the North Shore ever had happened in his Grandma's back yard in the early 1930's. (This was pre-ElectroLiner era).

When the North Shore line was abandoned in 1963, both ElectroLiner Train sets were sold to Philadelphia mass transit to run on their "Red line". And were known as "Liberty Liners".

They ran for many years and were eventually retired. One train set (The Valley Forge) was sold back to the Illinois Railway Museum, and the 2nd (The Independence Hall) is in storage at the Rockhill Trolley Museum in Rockhill Furnace Pa. awaiting funds to restore it.

We are asking modelers for help on Sound recordings of the ElectroLiner, so we can make them available to the various manufacturers of Sound Decoders, just Email us at address shown at the end of this page if you know where we can get some authentic sounds of the ElectroLiner in action.

Click on link below to hear a Sound File of the ElectroLiner.

We are told the 1st Horn you hear on this file is not an ElectroLiner, but probably one of the North Shore's Silver Liners, and the 2nd Horn heard is in fact the ElectroLiner horn. (But we have not been able to verify this.)

Click here for Sound file on ElectroLiner

This is large Sound file, may take a while to down load, please be patient.
