WOW ! North Shore ElectroLiners finished, due to arrive in USA early June.
Due to the state of the current economy, and narrow interest in this type of item, the
ElectroLiners will probably be just a "one run" item. Con-Cor does offer a "Layaway" program where you can pay for yours spread out
over several months, we can be flexible to your time table. Just contact our office directly if you are interested in doing a "Layaway".
(Email Link to our office at the bottom of this page.)
This is a fantastic model, we feel the best we have ever done.
And it is the first mass produced model of an historic USA Hi-speed Interurban train ever made. Many dealers have not bothered to order this train
as they tell us "no one" is interested in this sort of model. Bunk ! We get a constant stream of inquiries from modelers anxious to buy one. If your
dealer does not get it for you, you can order it direct from Con-Cor. Please spread the word about this model to your modeler friends who have interests
in Traction or Trolley modeling.
And don't forget Con-Cor has a "Layaway Program" so you
can pay for this fantastic model spread out over several months if you choose to do so.
Pre-Order yours Now ! For details on how our "No Obligation" Pre-Order

Oct 11th 2008, Photos of Engineering Sample of the HO ElectroLiner !
These photos are of an earlier Engineering sample of the HO ElectroLiner. This is
what we call an "Engineering Sample". That means it is not quite the final version. Still missing a few details, paint scheme not finished. So we
use this lst sample for comments, testing the mechanism, and any other details we wanted modified or "tweaked" before full production begins..
See the HO ElectroLiner in person at the NMRA
National Train Show in Hartford Ct. July 10-12th.
Entire 4 car train. Note the trolley poles are sprung and
pre-wired for those who may want to run the train off overhead wire. This is not the final paint scheme, only roughly painted to make sure we have
the correct color combination. (Photos at the very top of this page show final paint scheme).
 Closer Shot showing more details.
Close up of front motor car with body removed.
Close up end of ElectroLiner car showing the
between car Diaphram (rubberized so they close the gab when connected). The end of car hose assembly details, and the between car
pin assembly connector. (This shot shows the male end connector, connecting car will have female end).
Features to note on our new ElectroLiner....
Comes as Complete 4 Car Train Set
Full interior, including motorman. This is possible as we designed the ElectroLiner with a underfloor drive train.
Full lighting, and NMRA 8 pin DCC ready plug. (Decoder not supplied with model)
--For a Function Decoder you can use a DigiTrax DZ143PS or similar decoder by any other brand.
--For a Sound Decoder you can use a DigiTrax SFX004 Soundbug Decoder (we have provided a location for the Speaker to fit
upright in the vestibule between the doors of the powered locomotive unit. Or any other brand sound decoder that will fit available space.
--However, be advised we do not know of a set of existing Sounds you can use for the ElectroLiner, one of the various Decoder companies
may provide some sounds in the future, or you might find some on the Web once the model is released. But so far, we at Con-Cor have been unable to
find any Sounds we feel suitable to recommend to you.
Lots of underbody detail, even with underfloor drive train.
All 4 cars have full interiors and lighting
Rubberized diaphrams between each car.
Sprung fully operating Trolley Poles (Comes from factory set up for standard 2-rail operation, but by removing locomotive body shell and
shifting small slide switch the power pick up chages from 2-rail to overhead.)
Reversing headlights
We know the HO ElectroLiner will run on 10 inch radius at a slow speed. Depending on quality of your trackwork it will probably run on
a tighter radius at slow speeds.
Authentic Paint Colors**
**(Turquoise and Salmon colors in photo above do not
show up well on computer screens), we have used the paint formula for original colors
courtsey of Jim Meindl, the ElectroLiner foreman at the Illinois Railway Museum,
where a fully restored ElectroLiner resides. Con-Cor even was able to secure a
sample of the Seat cloth from the Original ElectroLiner to match on the model.)

Some History:
America's First "All Electric Luxury Trains" proclaimed the ads announcing the first run of the
"ElectroLiners" on Feb 9th 1941.
The design of the "ElectroLiners" was influenced by the competition on the Chicago to Milwaukee Run of the
C&NW's 400 trains, and the Milwaukee Road's Hiawatha trains. Also influencing the design was the fact that
the "ElectroLiners" had to circum-navigage the "EL" tracks above the Chicago Loop and run down the middle
of city streets as it entered Milwaukee.
Built by St. Louis Car company in their huge plant outside St. Louis, 2 compelete 4 car Trains were built
for the "North Shore" the trains exceeded their design standard of being able to make the 120 mile run
between Chicago and Milwaukee on a mile a minute schedule. (Including stops).
Con-Cor's founder, Jim Conway, often rode the ElectroLiners as a young boy and teenager, as most of his mother's
family and a lot of his cousins lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin on the North Shore's main line. And his Grandma's
house backed up to the North Shore's trackage. In fact the worst rail disaster the North Shore ever had happened in his
Grandma's back yard in the early 1930's. (This was pre-ElectroLiner era).
When the North Shore line was abandoned in 1963, both ElectroLiner Train sets were sold to Philadelphia mass
transit to run on their "Red line". And were known as "Liberty Liners".
They ran for many years and were eventually retired. One train set (The Valley Forge) was
sold back to the Illinois Railway Museum, and the 2nd (The Independence Hall) is in storage at the Rockhill Trolley Museum
in Rockhill Furnace Pa. awaiting funds to restore it.
We are asking modelers for help on Sound recordings of the ElectroLiner, so we can make them
available to the various manufacturers of Sound Decoders, just Email us at address shown at the end of this page if you know where we can get some
authentic sounds of the ElectroLiner in action.
HO North Shore "ElectroLiner"
Retail Price $439.98 for Complete 4 car Set
0001-008717 Undecorated (Silver, No Lettering) (Sorry all sold out on Pre-Orders)
0001-008718 North Shore Units 801-802 (Train #1)
0001-008719 North Shore Units 803-804 (Train #2)
After the North Shore went Bankrupt in 1963, the
ElectroLiners were eventually sold to the "Red Arrow Lines" Transit system of Philadephia, where they were remodeled and called
"LibertyLiners". Con-Cor hopes to eventually also produce the LibertyLiner version of this famous train. See information about the
LibertyLiner below....
"LibertyLiner Version of the ElectroLiner"
( Unfortunately due to the current state of the economy we have had to postpone the
tooling contract for the modifications to the Original ElectroLiner molds to convert to the Libery Liner version. When the economy improves we will
re-consider the Libery Liner vesion modification.)
We will continue to accept "Pre-Order" Reservations
for the "LibertyLiners as well at this time. So if (when) the project eventually goes forward we will have your name on file as an interested modeler.
The number of "Pre-Orders" we have on file is a huge factor in making the decision to go forward or not. We would need about 400 Pre-Orders to
move forward on the Liberty Liner version. Click the Pre-Order link above on this page..
HO LibertyLiner
Estimated Retail price $439.98 for Complete 4 car Set
Click on link below to hear a Sound File of the ElectroLiner.
We are told the 1st Horn you hear on this file is not an ElectroLiner, but probably one of
the North Shore's Silver Liners, and the 2nd Horn heard is in fact the ElectroLiner horn. (But we have not been able to verify this.)
This is large Sound file, may take a while to down load, please be patient.
